A NEW EXECUTIVE BOARD AT THE STTRC
Press release | April 30, 2025 – At the close of the voting period, the Election Committee counted the votes cast.
Following the vote count, conducted by the external firm Simple Sondage, the Election Committee declared that Pierre Tousignant won the most votes for the position of President of the STTRC with 50.17% of the vote.
For the position of Grievance and Disputes Manager, Jean-François Nadeau won with 92.08% of the vote.
Finally, Marc Gosselin was elected with 51.98% of the vote for the position of Communications and Mobilization Manager.
“I would like to thank the members for their trust and for this new mandate. I am humbled by these results. It is clear to me that a message has been sent: to review some of our practices, primarily my own. Many have expressed a desire for greater mobilization, greater presence, and greater action. Action will inevitably occur in the coming months, and the work begins now. Being President of the STTRC is a daily challenge, with many headwinds and tailwinds. I am proud of the work accomplished, proud also of the team in place and of all of us, since together we have demonstrated that it is possible to move things forward,” declared President Pierre Tousignant.
The STTRC would like to congratulate all the candidates in this hotly contested election.
“Submitting a candidacy is in itself an act of commitment and an expression of a desire to be involved. Democracy has been expressed, and the members have made their choice. The coming months will be busy for the STTRC, particularly with a new government in Ottawa, where the funding of CBC/Radio-Canada will be discussed. Challenges await us, bridges must be rebuilt between us. In June, we will elect a bargaining committee that will accelerate preparations for a new collective agreement, and it is only by working together that we will achieve collective gains,” emphasized Secretary-Treasurer Lise Millette.
The STTRC would like to thank the directors who have completed their terms: Maxime André, Gilles Boudreau, Josianne Létourneau, Julie Maltais (interim), and Christian Paul. Their time, commitment, and the connections they have built have contributed to the entire organization.
The first meeting of the new executive committee will be held on May 5 and 6 in Quebec City.
